How to store your cakeCakes with a buttercream finish are best kept in the refrigerator, in their boxes. You want to eat it at room temperature, so bring it out of the fridge at least 2-3 hours before it will be eaten. Fondant cakes should NOT be refrigerated, and can be kept in their box at room temperature until they are ready to be displayed. All cakes should be kept in a cool room, away from direct heat, and out of direct sunlight. If you're unsure about how to store your cake, please ask us!
-
How to transport your cakeAll cakes will be neatly boxed up to support the cake during travel. Hold the cake from the bottom of the box, not just the sides. It's important when transporting your cake that it is kept on a flat surface. We recommend putting the boxed cake on the floor or boot of your vehicle. Have the aircon on in the car, especially if it's a hot day. Do not keep the cake in the car for any longer than your car ride home, and keep out of direct sunlight. Please note that once collected, full responsibility for your cake is with the person collecting your cake, and Sweet Avenue Cakes is not liable for any damage thereafter.
-
How to cut your cakeAll non-edible items should be removed from the cake before cutting, such as flowers, ribbons and cake toppers. Some sugar flowers and cake toppers may contain wires or skewers to support attachment to the cake. Please note that tiered or tall cakes contain vertical dowels for support, and larger cakes may have a central dowel through all tiers. You can watch our Instagram video on how to cut your cake here
